Boeing Israel

The relationship between Boeing and Israel goes back nearly 80 years — to the founding of the State of Israel. Since then, Boeing has worked closely with Israeli commercial and military customers and suppliers and has developed many lasting partnerships.

Israel has a large and modern air force and a successful commercial aviation sector. The Israeli aerospace industry in the public and private sectors provides a high level of innovation and expertise in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of defense, space and communications products. Its position as a world aerospace leader makes Israel an important market and partner to Boeing.

Commercial airplanes

Boeing continues to be a reliable partner to the Israeli airlines and El Al, Israel’s national flag carrier, in particular. El Al has achieved significant milestones with Boeing aircraft, including a world record for the longest nonstop flight with a Boeing 707, the first twin-jet to cross the North Atlantic with a 767-200ER, and a record 1,087 passengers airlifted by a 747 during Operation Solomon. After privatization in 2003, El Al expanded its Boeing fleet with orders for 747s, 767s, and 777s for long-haul routes, as well as eight 737-900ERs in 2011-2012 and up to 16 787 Dreamliners in 2015. As of early 2026, El Al operates a fleet of 17 Boeing 787 Dreamliners. This fleet is part of a major modernization effort, consisting of both 787-8 and 787-9 variants used for medium and long-haul routes. The airline has plans to further expand its Dreamliner fleet in the coming years. In August 2024, El Al finalized an agreement for up to 31 737 MAX jets to renew its short haul fleet. El Al is an all-Boeing operator.

Defense systems

Boeing's partnership with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) began in 1948, coinciding with the establishment of Israel, when the Israeli Air Force (IAF) started using the B-17 Flying Fortress. Over the years, various Boeing aircraft have served in the IAF, including the Douglas DC-3, which played a crucial role in airlifting Jewish populations, and the Boeing 707, which was utilized for nearly 40 years in multiple capacities.

The IAF operates a range of Boeing capabilities, such as the F-15 Eagle fighter jet and the AH-64 Apache helicopters, with the advanced F-15I Ra’am and AH-64D-I Saraph being notable examples in their current fleet. This long-standing relationship highlights Boeing's significant role in supporting the IAF's operational capabilities throughout its history.

Partnerships

Industry cooperation

Boeing has a long history of working in partnership with Israel’s technical and industrial sectors and other stakeholders and continues to seek such relationships for common benefit. Today, Israeli industry supplies parts for many Boeing commercial and military products, including the F-15; AH-64D Apache Longbow; and 737, 777 and 787 commercial airplanes.

Boeing and Israel entered a reciprocal procurement partnership in October 2018, with Boeing agreeing to spend billions of dollars in Israel if it wins major defense contracts. Israel is expected to purchase $10 billion worth of military products from Boeing in the next decade, and the new agreement means Boeing will now invest$3.5 billion in new business in Israel.

Sustainability

Boeing is partnering with local innovators in Israel to advance sustainability in aviation through the SAF Innovation Center at the Technion in Haifa. In 2023 Boeing and Technion established the Center through an initiative under the agreement involving the Israeli government and an industry consortium to help develop SAF research and production in Israel. The consortium includes the Israeli government’s Science and Defense Ministries, El Al Israel Airlines, Bazan Group, Israel Aerospace Industries, Elbit Systems, and the Technion-Israeli Institute of Technology. The Center is exploring innovative technology to produce SAF utilizing Israel’s existing feedstock resources such as renewable power.

Cybersecurity

Boeing is deepening its collaboration with Israeli academia through a new cybersecurity research center launched with Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. The five-year partnership will bring together Boeing experts and BGU researchers to advance security for next-generation aviation and space systems, with a focus on autonomous platforms, secure communications, and resilient cyber architectures. Facilitated by BGU’s technology transfer company, BGN, the initiative reflects Boeing’s commitment to working with leading Israeli institutions to strengthen aerospace cybersecurity and develop future talent.

Community

Boeing is proud to support important causes such as education, veterans and community needs in Israel through work with community partners. Boeing employees also volunteer in local communities.

Boeing supported the opening of a new Pilates studio and the renovation of the entire Pilates center at the Tel Aviv Beit Halochem Sport and Culture Center, one of the major facilities of the IDF Disabled Veterans Organization. This initiative supports over 60,000 disabled war veterans in Israel, providing them with essential wellness resources. The Beit Halochem Tel Aviv facility serves approximately 6,000 disabled veterans from Israel’s central region, along with their families, bringing total membership to over 10,000.

In partnership with FIRST (For Inspiration & Recognition of Science & Technology), this grant supports the world’s leading nonprofit serving youth to advance STEM education.

Over 25,000 students learn skills and gain confidence to dream about their future and careers in STEM.

The Yeruham Science Center brings advanced STEM concepts to all the town's children, from kindergarten through high school. nurturing young people's sense of self-efficacy and creating a new narrative that steers them toward skills and professions suitable for the 21st-centry job market.

In September 2025 Boeing contributed to the inauguration of the Space Flight to the Moon Interactive Exhibition at Carasso Science Park (CSP) in Be’er Sheva. Established in 2013 by the Rashi Foundation and partners, the Carasso Science Park is dedicated to enabling children and youth across Israel’s periphery to excel in science and technology. Since its opening, CSP has welcomed over 1.2 million visitors of all ages to learn through interactive, hands-on exhibits, serving as a national hub for STEM education and community engagement. The new space exhibition provides an impressive showcase of cutting-edge space and flight technology, Israeli achievements, the country’s legacy of innovation, and future missions. Importantly, it will allow thousands of schoolchildren—particularly from Israel’s southern periphery—to engage with advanced space content through both formal and informal educational activities. Carasso Science Park is one of the only four recognized science museums in Israel and continues to play a central role in advancing science and technology education nationwide.

In 2023, Boeing donated $500,000 to Magen David Adom, the Israeli rescue organization affiliated with the Red Cross, to support humanitarian efforts in Israel, as part of a $2 million emergency assistance package to organizations working in the region. Boeing’s donation has been directed towards equipping ambulances with the most advanced medical equipment to ensure life-saving capabilities. Each ambulance is designed to provide a full scale of emergency medical services, and the various state-of-the-art items installed are life savers.
